USBC Gold Level
bowling coach, Brian Chilcutt
instructs players from beginner
to the professional level.
Brian has been on the
Bowlers Journal International "Top 100 Coaches" list since this
prestigious lists inception in 2005. He is also on the board of
directors for IBPSIA (International
Bowling Pro Shop and Instructor Association: the Gold Standard for bowling
pro shop operation and education in the world.).
Although coaching is widely
considered to be teaching the mechanics of the game (i.e.,
timing, footwork, swing, release, adjustments), he has a very
strong understanding and ability to coach these other important
skills: lane conditions, lane surfaces, bowling ball
construction, layout, surface prep, proper fit, recognizing and
adjusting to different lane conditions as well as proper warm up
and mental relaxation and preparation. These elements all have a
direct effect on playing the sport at consistently high levels.
He has been a pro shop professional for
more than
17 years and
currently owns the shop at Brunswick Zone-Hawthorn (formerly Hawthorn Lanes)
in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
He has competed at
National Amateur, Regional and National Professional (PBA) levels. He
has experienced a wide range of bowling lane surfaces and conditions. He
is highly skilled at coaching the correct combinations of ball
speed, rotation, ball layouts, ball surface and lane playing
techniques for various conditions and style of players/students
he deals with on a daily basis.
Brian's philosophy " If you stop progressing - you begin
regressing." Meaning always continue to learn and stay on the
cutting edge of bowling equipment and coaching techniques.
