Most anyone that picks up a bowling ball wants to know where to aim the
ball to get a strike. The recreational bowler might not even notice the "arrows"
that are on the bowling lane that should be used to "target" their shot.
Try to avoid aiming at the pins...they are too far away to get a true target
line.
There
are seven arrows on the lane. These are called Target Arrows. The arrows
are numbered from right to left if you bowl right handed or from left to right
if you bowl left handed.
For now, aim for the second target arrow. Using the release taught in our
previous lesson
Approach Tip
, the ball should hook into the side of the #1 pin (head pin).
We call this area the strike pocket, because this is the best place to
hit the pins to make a strike.
If your shot consistently misses a little to the right, move a little to the
right in the stance. If it misses a little to the left, move a little to the
left.
